M27 - Dumbbell
The planetary nebula M27 is the main object for observation in the small constellation Vulpecula. Due to its high brightness, it can be observed even with small telescopes, in which its brightest parts resemble a barbell. The central star is a white dwarf with a brightness of 13.5 magnitude, therefore it is only observable in larger instruments. Its surface temperature is estimated to be around 85,000 degrees Celsius. It is the first planetary nebula discovered by Charles Messier in 1764.
It is a relatively old image and one of the first attempts to photograph nebulae. The image may be too dark; I will still try to rework it and highlight more details.
