NGC 2237 - Rosette

The nebula with the designation NGC 2237, reminiscent of a rose to many, was discovered during the 19th century, and thus its parts gradually acquired different designations. Inside this beautiful emission nebula is the open star cluster NGC 2244, made up of bright, very young stars, much brighter and more massive than our Sun. The surrounding dust nebula is about 100 light-years across and is located in the constellation Monoceros. It got its red color due to the presence of a large amount of hydrogen.
