NGC 2264 - The Cone Nebula

The Cone Nebula NGC 2264 is a prominent object in an open star cluster sometimes called the Christmas Tree, at the center of which is the brightest star S Monocerotis. The entire area is part of the constellation Monoceros. The star-forming region is full of disparate gas and dust formations where new star systems are born. The Fox Fur Nebula is also a prominent object.

I am very happy with this photo. Originally it was just a kind of virtue out of necessity and a test of what would come of it. In the end, I had to take photos on two nights because of the cloud cover, the time was always only up to midnight. It could probably use more exposures, but I think it turned out very well. I was most happy that the image was very well received at the Astroforum and beyond. Experienced astrophotographers such as Láďa Kamarád, Martin Myslivec, Libor Richter, Honza Čamek and some others even expressed their praise. It's just a shame that I didn't manage to get an official award at ČAM :-). It will still be a long way to more perfect images.
