NGC 3718

NGC 3718 is a spiral galaxy located in the constellation Ursa Major near a part called the Big Dipper. The galaxy has highly twisted spiral arms and is likely interacting gravitationally with the galaxy NGC 3729. Also visible in the image is the Hickson 56 galaxy cluster, approximately 400 million light-years away, which consists of five interacting galaxies.

The image was processed with a longer delay. The photography took place over two nights, always as a second subject. Processing in PixInsight uses a minimal amount of editing. Therefore, there is a little more noise left in the image, but I prefer a more natural look to strong color hits.
