Exhibition of astrophotographs

From April to June 2026, the Mira Gallery hosted an exhibition of my astrophotographs called The Universe without "make-up" in the Ostrava Planetarium. The exhibit featured a selection of galaxies, nebulae and other deep space objects captured over many nights under the starry sky.

My fascination with the night sky has been with me since childhood. I have been engaged in astrophotography for almost fifteen years, and each resulting image is based on patiently waiting for suitable conditions, careful collection of image data and their sensitive processing.

The title of the exhibition expresses the effort to show the universe without unnecessary embellishment. When processing, I start from the actually captured signal and avoid retouching or artistic interventions that would change the photographed objects according to the human idea of a perfect image.

Astrophotography thus moves on the border between cognition and aesthetic experience. The light captured in the images has often taken thousands to millions of years to travel to us, reminding us that the physical reality of the universe itself can be surprisingly beautiful.
