Solar Eclipse 2015

On March 20, 2015, a partial solar eclipse took place. The forecast promised clear skies, which was confirmed. The eclipse began at 9:40 a.m. and ended at approximately 12:00 p.m. The maximum phase reached 70% and occurred at approximately 10:49.

The video is compiled from approximately 260 images taken during the partial eclipse. Due to the blue coloring, they were edited into black and white before composition. A single active sunspot that was obscured during the eclipse can be seen in the upper left. When playing the video in high resolution, the unevenness of the edge of the shadow caused by the surface of the moon can be observed. Despite covering more than 70% of the sun's disk, only a slight darkening was visible, it cooled down a bit and everything took on a typical steel blue tint. It was a relaxing morning for me, when I calmly watched the whole phenomenon on the terrace. After three awake nights dedicated to photographing deep space objects, it came in handy.
